MOSCOW, Oct 24 (PRIME) -- Russian mobile operator MegaFon has built a high-altitude base station to provide tourists and rescuers at Mount Elbrus with voice connection and the mobile Internet, the company said on Monday in a statement.
“MegaFon has prepared the network for the start of a tourist season at Elbrus by installing a base station at the height of 3,890 meters above sea. Tourists have voice connection and the mobile Internet at the speed of up to 75 Mbit/s,” the company said.
The base station is the most high-altitude connection facility in East Europe.
The company put the base station in a special thermobox to ensure its flawless functioning in the climate of low temperatures and strong winds.
